POST 10: MILITARY POWER as exemplified in Brian De Palma's Redacted movie

                                        

                                      

The issues that it raises :

In Redacted ,we can see the daily life of american soldiers in Iraq , who has to watch a chekpoint at the enter of the village of Mahmoudiyah .It was an easy work until a day when an iraqy activist put a land mine near to the checkpoint and the sargeant of the squad is killed by the explosion . After that , the soldiers of the squad take their personal revenge by a raid in the house of an iraqy family and rape a little girl and they killed her and the hole family. One of the soldiers is very affected by the last events in the raid and decided to report what the soldiers of his squad have done.

In this film,create by Brand de palma , we see how the american soldiers abuse of their power raping a litller girl and killing all her family in a raid , raid who is justified by two of the soldiers  saying that it was a revenge for the landmine .Brian de palma show to us how , in this war , the soldiers can abuse of the power that they have.We can see in the film , when the soldier who has remorse , when he tries to confess the crime to the military authorities , they try to convince him of the "reality" of this raid , they said that the familly could be a family of iraqy rebels , information that is totally fake , everything to hide the abuse of power and the violence that is comitted in the war . 

We can see the notion of military power and abuse of power in the movie , beacause that is the issues that rases , and this issues show to us how the soldiers who have the military power can practice the power of violence too.
